George S. Daugharty, Founder
George S. Daugharty is a Certified Public Accountant specializing in serving closely held businesses and HUD affiliated mortgage lenders and apartment facilities. He is a frequent speaker to business groups and estate planners on methods of minimizing and avoiding income and estate tax. He has published in Current Accounts, a newsletter for Certified Public Accountants and National Mortgage Professional a monthly publication for the mortgage industry.
He founded and managed his own public accounting firm, Daugharty & Company, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia which served a large number of real estate developers and investors from 1999 to 2005. He currently owns and operates Daugharty & Company, P.C. which serves numerous mortgage lenders and HUD affiliated affordable housing facilities in Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Mr. Daugharty earned a Masters in Professional Accounting from The Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas-Austin in 1992. He obtained his Bachelors of Accounting degree from Valdosta State University in 1990. After completing graduate school he practiced with the international accounting firm of Price Waterhouse, LLP and worked with a variety of the firm's larger publicly held clients including manufacturers, real estate partnerships, and financial institutions. While with Price Waterhouse he helped manage the firm's special Resolute Trust Corporation engagement liquidating HomeFed Savings & Loan, the largest savings and load in the State of California prior to its liquidation.
Mr. Daugharty is a longtime Rotarian. He has been active also in Affordable Housing Association of Certified Public Accountants, Virginia Mortgage Lenders Association, and the Virginia Society of CPAs. He serves on the Planning Commission for the Town of New Market and is past Treasurer and President of the Woodstock Rotary Club. He enjoys volunteering and has served as an assistant coach for his son's baseball team and as a Sunday school teacher.
He and his wife, Rebecca, are members of The Church of the Incarnation-Anglican and are the proud parents of three beautiful children: Amy, Catherine, and George, Jr.
